Once the primary gateway to Luxembourg, the capital’s central station is seeing a piece of its history come back to life. Under the thoughtful hands of Steven Cruz, one of the pillars of the old footbridge is now adorned with an azulejo fresco.
Drawing inspiration from the Manueline style and the rich tradition of Portuguese azulejos, the fresco creates a silent conversation between memory, migration, and hope. It evokes journeys undertaken, blending marine influences, symbols of freedom, and fragments of forgotten stories. Each motif offers a glimpse into a shifting past, an impression of the quiet strength of those who left everything behind to start anew. Poised between dream and reality, the artwork yields to the viewer’s imagination.
