Les Voyeuses Yannick Tossing
INTENTION
Yannick Tossing’s artistic approach revolves around multi-layered photographic collages. While a photograph might be seen as a tangible, visual snapshot of a memory, we all know memories can be a bit fuzzy around the edges. The when, where, and how of events often blur together, leaving us with impressions rather than crystal-clear recollections. In Yannick’s collages the abstract, indefinable elements represent the fragments we add in our minds. They’re the feelings and moods we associate with a moment, even if they weren’t actually there at the time. By mashing up different memories into a single collage, the artist adds a new value to them, creating dreamlike scenes that allow him to relive and reconnect with those moments. The idea is to bring new life to those photographs in the same way that Rotondes’ site was reborn through renovation and redesign, without erasing their history.
