Kabeaushé once described their music as “the complete opposite” of their then-label (Nyege Nyege Tapes) mates’ hardcore electronic sounds on. At the time, this was true : their debut album, The Coming of Gaze, was fiercely focused on giddy pop rush, positivity, and joy. Now, however, that stark contrast has softened. While none of the pop brightness has been lost, a new rawness, weirdness, and rave energy have begun to infuse their sound.
This evolution is a direct expression of Kabeaushé’s wild performance energy, channeled through their alter ego, “the Shé.” Anyone who has witnessed a Kabeaushé show understands instantly. Their sets transcend mere performance ; they’re a celebration, a communion, a party where the audience’s energy is met and amplified, and the Shé truly emerges. We’re incredibly lucky to experience this at the Congés Annulés !
